Leeds Beckett Students' Union (LBSU) exists to support an excellent student experience at Leeds Beckett University. Your Officer Team is elected by you, to lead the Students’ Union into the academic year. They're here to make students’ lives better and address the many different needs of the student body. LBSU offers volunteering opportunities, societies, events and entertainments. They also provide support, employability skills, advice and information.

You can join a society and meet new people, make new friends and enhance your university experience. There are over 70 societies to choose from, covering a wide range of interests, topics and hobbies. Find out more through the Students’ Union’s societies page about how you can get involved.

We are continuing to support students to form and run societies, projects, enterprises and campaigns, and applications to the Student Activities Grant Fund will continue to be available to help support this activity. We do not expect to be able to facilitate the organisation of student-led events on campus during semester one, however we will provide support for online, remote, and other off-campus events subject to risk assessment and adherence to current government guidelines.

We are operating a full service, providing confidential and independent advice on a range of issues affecting students, including academic regulations and procedures, student finance and accommodation issues. All advice is given by a team of experienced advisers, who can be contacted by phone, email or through our online enquiry form. Appointments will be conducted via a phone or video call at a mutually convenient time.

In-person appointments will not be available during semester two unless under exceptional circumstances

Leeds Beckett Students' Union will continue to work with the university to elect, train and support course representatives to ensure that students’ feedback and ideas continue to shape course delivery at Leeds Beckett. A full programme of course rep training and school forums will be delivered remotely. They will also be continuing their work ensuring the diverse community of students at Leeds Beckett is effectively represented through their campaign work. Our ‘Have Your Say’ initiative, which allows students to shape the work of the Students’ Union and make change by submitting ideas, will operate entirely online. Idea submission will continue as normal, with the Have Your Say Forums, open to all students, taking place online four times across the year.

We are continuing to support students to find relevant and safe volunteering opportunities to help develop skills and experience while making a positive contribution to the community at the same time. We are running our ‘Volunteer from Home’ programme, as well as sourcing opportunities that can be done outdoors, or safely indoors, subject to risk assessment and adherence to current government guidelines.
